Chest directors to meet Sept. 2
By Lynsi Musselman
Board members of the Albany Chest will meet to organize the 2020 fundraising campaign, nominate and elect new directors, and choose officers for the upcoming year during a Sept. 2 meeting that will be held at The Feed Store at 5:15 p.m.
Current board chair Amy Kelly said four directors will complete their current terms, with positions held by Robert Dacus, Lacey Anderson, Susan Montgomery, and Susie Beard up for election.
According to the Chest bylaws, directors can serve up to two three-year terms before they cycle off.
Individuals interested in serving on the Albany Chest board should contact secretary Tisha Wilkins or Kelly to have their names submitted for consideration.
Current Chest officers are president and board chair Amy Kelly, vice chair and public relations Melinda Lucas, secretary Tisha Wilkins, and parliamentarian Susie Beard.
Paige Adair serves as treasurer, which is an appointed position.
Mindy Skelton, Sara Wilson, Clint Chapman, Austin Sherwood, and Jana Kitchens complete the board.
Donations
During the September board meeting, the board will be deciding the deadline to receive applications for funding in January 2021.
Applications will be placed at First Financial Bank, First National Bank, and The Albany News.
Kelly said once all applications have been received, the board will determine the fundraising needs at the October board meeting and send out letters to potential donors.
Contributions to the Chest may be mailed to Albany Chest, PO Box 2019, Albany TX 76430 or given to Paige Adair at First National Bank, Jana Kitchens at First Financial Bank, and Melinda Lucas at The Albany News.
In 2019, Chest contributions exceeded $41,000, with 27 organizations benefitting from generous donors.
