Chapman, Hill named Mr., Miss AHS

COVID may have kept Albany High School from hosting the annual Winter Formal this year, but it didn’t stop the student body from electing Mr. and Miss AHS.

During a special hallway assembly on Monday, May 24, Alli Hill and Jackson Chapman were announced as Miss AHS and Mr. AHS.

Other nominees for Miss AHS included Sidney Bartee, Elia Hebel, and Hannah Trail.

Mr. AHS nominees were Barrett Beal, Zach Parrott, and Ryder Wilkins.

Miss AHS

Alli Hill is the daughter of Kimberly and Kevin Hill and has attended school in Albany since kindergarten. 

The Albany High senior has participated in FFA, volleyball, basketball, and track all four years of high school.

Hill served on student council for three years, is a two-year member of the National Honor Society, and is an honor graduate. 

Miss AHS has won multiple district awards and banquet honors for volleyball, basketball, and track. 

Hill also participated in UIL her freshman year and photography her sophomore year.

After graduation, she plans to attend Tarleton State University in Stephenville and major in kinesiology. 

Mr. AHS

Jackson Chapman is the son of Tara and Jacob Chapman and has attended school in Albany since first grade.

Chapman has been involved in student council  as a class representative all four years of high school and is currently the reporter for the group.

The senior is the current FFA president and has been involved in the organization for four years. As a sophomore, he was a state Gold Star winner.

Chapman has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past two years and is an honor graduate. He also received the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen award this year.

The senior athlete has played football and baseball all four years of high school and basketball for three years. 

He was named Baseball Newcomer of the Year as a freshman, district catcher of the year as a sophomore, and Region 1 Top Baseball player as a junior. He was selected to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Baseball team as a senior.

Chapman has participated in One-Act Play all four years. He was on the bi-district all star technical crew as a freshman and was named to the all-star cast as a junior.

He was a member of the Lions Roar staff as a sophomore and has earned an all “A” academic award during his first three years of high school. 

Mr. AHS also has been a Homecoming Court nominee his freshman and senior years, a Winter Formal prince his freshman and junior years, was named Junior Class Favorite, and was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by the members of his senior class. 

After graduation, Chapman plans to attend Texas A&M University in College Station and study agribusiness.
