Changes made in commodity dates

Pick-up dates for the October distribution of the commodity food program this month are Oct. 4 and Oct. 8, reflecting a change in the pickup day for Moran.

Albany families who have been certified eligible for the October food distribution program can pick up their commodity food Friday, Oct. 4, at the rear door of the JP office (the former county jail) from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Albany schedule remains unchanged.

“The pickup date in Moran has moved from Thursday to Tuesday,” said justice of the peace James Breeden. “And Moran residents need to pick up on their assigned day, or they will not be able to pick up that month.”

Although the pickup date has changed for Moran recipients, the hours will remain the same as before.

Tuesday, Oct. 8, certified eligible families in Moran should pick up their monthly commodity food at the Moran City Hall between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.

“Everyone needs to make sure that their applications are up to date, because the Thanksgiving bags are coming up soon,” added Breeden. “Recipients must pick up their October bags in order to be given a special holiday bag next month. We’ll need any new applications to be turned in by Thursday, Oct. 31 for those families to be eligible for the Thanksgiving bag.”

The special holiday bags are distributed on the same day as the regular November commodity bags and include items for preparing a Thanksgiving meal.

“Because we have to order the items special, we need to have an accurate count,” said Breeden.

Applications for the program are available at the JP office.
