Chamber sets dates for upcoming events

The Albany Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for a busy stretch, starting with its annual meeting rescheduled for next week on Friday, Feb. 11.
Also on the Chamber schedule are the Albany Stars event and the annual Membership Appreciation Crawfish Boil, as well as plans for an upcoming event in 2023.
Albany Stars
The Chamber’s Albany Stars event has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 3 at the Aztec Theater.
This is the second time the Chamber will present the awards, which recognize individuals and businesses for their support of the community. The program was begun in 2020 with the intention of presenting the awards every other year.
Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones said nominations are being accepted. Past recipients are eligible for this year’s awards.
“If somebody wants to nominate a person or a business that has been outstanding in the support of Albany, they can call the Chamber and either leave a voicemail or talk to me,” Jones said. “We will take all the names to the board, and then the directors will make that decision.”
Honorees will receive an engraved desk clock.
In addition to the awards presentation, the March event will include hors d’oeuvres, tea and water.
“If anyone wants to bring something else to drink, they can,” Jones said.
Crawfish Boil
The Chamber’s annual Membership Appreciation Crawfish Boil has been scheduled for Thursday, April 7, at the Chamber parking lot.
“That is for all Chamber members,” Jones said. “If someone wants to become a Chamber member, they can join that night and pay for the year.”
Big Party
Jones said the Chamber has voted to hold an event in 2023 with planning to begin sometime in the next month or so.
“We’re going to be starting our big party committee as soon as we get the Star party over with,” she said. “We need to decide the date and other details, but we will definitely do something to celebrate Shackelford County history.”
Albany Bucks
Jones reminded that holders of Albany Bucks awarded from Fall Fest and Christmas events have until Tuesday, Feb. 15 to redeem them.
Albany Bucks can be redeemed at any Chamber-member business.
