The Chamber of Commerce weekly luncheon will not take place this Friday, July 6, but will resume next Friday, July 13, at the Icehouse.

The Chamber board of directors regular monthly meeting is also cancelled in July, according to president Ramby Anderson.

“The monthly Chamber meeting always takes a break in July,” he said. “We will meet again in August.”

Anderson added that Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones recently attended a “Chamber Best Practices” meeting.

“That was a good opportunity for her to get out and interact with other Chamber people, and to make sure that we are still staying up-to-date with Chamber operations,” said Anderson.

The meeting took place in Abilene on Thursday, June 28, at the Small Business Development Center and was sponsored by the Texas Midwest Community Network.

“It gave me some insight on things to check legal-wise,” said Jones. “I need to make sure that our Charter and By Laws match.”

Jones said that she also had the opportunity to share ideas with other Chamber officers on how to build a more successful Chamber, improve retention of members, strengthen boards, and communicate more effectively using social media.
