Three board members were re-elected and another was voted in for the first time by the Albany chamber of Commerce last Friday.

As part of the annual membership meeting of the organization, the directors were elected to three-year terms by the members, followed by the board selecting officers for the coming year at the luncheon held at the Icehouse Restaurant.

Directors Ramby Anderson, Chris Beard, and Clayton Snyder were all elected to additional terms, while Tisha Wilkins was voted to replace outgoing director Jacob Cleveland, who opted not to serve another term.

Megaen Birdwell was also named president for the coming year, with Snyder picked as vice-president, Robin Balliew as secretary and Lisa Barton to serve as treasurer.

The annual membership meeting is held the first Friday in February and includes the election of board members and officers.

The public is invited to attend the weekly luncheon at 12:00 noon on Fridays at the Icehouse.

Valentine Drawings

The Chamber’s merchants committee is currently in the midst of a Valentine’s Day project, with shoppers at participating stores provided entry forms for drawings next Monday for $100 gift certificates.

Customers will receive one entry slip for each $10 in purchases at the 10 participating businesses. The completed forms can be placed in the drawing boxes at any of the stores.

All the drawing entries will be collected on Monday morning, Feb. 13, with the 10 winners drawn during a Chamber board meeting scheduled for noon on Monday.

“We have had a good response to the drawings,” new Chamber manager Brandi Lehew said this week. “I have had to take additional entry slips to some of the stores already. It was a little slow at the start last week due to the weather, but things picked up over the weekend.”

The 10 merchants have provided a $100 gift certificate to their stores, with one winner to be pulled for each certificate donated.

“We will combine all the entry slips into one big bin and then draw for each of the gift certificates,” Lehew said. “I will go around Monday morning to collect the tickets.”

Merchants who are participating include Nostalgia, Buds For You, Sassifrass, Southern Comfort, Vintage Vanilla, Erline’s, Rustic Charm, Me and Mrs. Jones, Gannon & Grace, and Blanton Caldwell.
