The Albany Chamber of Commerce’s annual membership meeting is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 5 immediately after the 12:00 noon luncheon at The Beehive.

The annual meeting is typically held on the first Friday in February with an agenda that includes reviewing the finance report and electing directors and officers.

Each year, several of the board members’ terms come up for election on a rotating basis, and the new directors are chosen at the annual membership meeting.

Current Chamber president Ramby Anderson has met with his nominating committee to fill any empty spots on the board.

The committee’s recommendations are submitted and voted on by all of the Chamber members in attendance at the Feb. 5 meeting.

Directors whose terms are expiring this year but who have agreed to stay on include Lisa Barton, Robert Dacus, Jana Kitchens, Chris Beard, and Jonathan Scott.

According to Albany Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones, others can be nominated as well, then the vote will be taken.

“The nominating committee can recommend the people whose terms are ending, and then nominations can be taken from the floor,” said Jones. “After that, everyone in attendance, not just board members, will cast their votes. This will include all members who proxy their votes. After the lunch meeting and election, the new board will stay and elect officers.”

All Chamber members are invited and encouraged to attend the luncheon.

“We would love for more people to attend and become a part of our ‘Support Albany’ group,” said Jones. “It is more important now than ever for locals to support our local businesses. It will take everyone to keep Albany strong.”
