Cast members earn honors
Although Albany High School’s One Act Play (OAP) did not advance to bi-district competition this year, five members of the troupe won special accolades at the district contest in Stamford last week, and co-director Jenny Scott complimented the entire group on their performance.
“It would have been nice to advance to bi-district,” Scott said, “but at the end of the day, the point of theater is to tell a story, and the cast and crew did that while learning about an important part of history. This year was successful, and I’m very proud of the performance our kids gave at district.”
Receiving the honor of All-Star Cast were Alayna Koemel for her performance as Babushka and Caroline Masters for her portrayal of Ava McCauley.
Haley Stewart and Hannah Trail received Honorable Mention All-Star Cast.
Harrison Everitt was named to the All-Star Crew.
“I have a great group of five seniors that will be graduating at the end of this year, and I have really enjoyed seeing them grow to be wonderful performers and crew members,” said Scott.
Advancing to bi-district from District 8-2A were Cross Plains, Haskell, and Stamford.
Hawley was selected as alternate.
The District 8-2A contest between Cross Plains, Hawley, Albany, Haskell, Stamford, and Roscoe Collegiate took place in Stamford on Wednesday, March 6.
The Albany OAP this year was The Fourth Ward by Amanda Guthrie.

Morris, Marina Vasnetov – Kam Browning, Babushka – Alayna Koemel, Collin McCauley – Jackson Chapman, Ava McCauley – Caroline Masters, Brigid McCauley – Cydney Nelson, Ensemble – Susie Cormack, Cameron Dacus, Cydney Nelson, and William Webb, Gang – Cameron Dacus, William Webb, and Bryson Davis, and Instructor – William Webb.
Alternates were Chris Hensley, Gerardo Rodriguez, and Tana Thompson.
Crew members included Zion Belisle, Riley Green, Brooks Neece, Taylor Scott, and Harrison Everitt – Stage Manager.
Directors were Jenny Scott and Jonathan Scott.
