Carefest expected to draw crowd

ResourceCare’s first ever Carefest is expected to draw several hundred people for a country music fundraiser that will feature 11 different bands during the 11-hour event.

Two covered stages will be set up at the Happy Wife Happy Life venue off of the Cook Field Road this Saturday, Aug. 11.

With a start time of 1:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, the event will include not only regional musicmakers, but will offer several food truck options and VIP attractions.

Advance ticket prices are available until the end of the day on Friday, Aug. 10, but prices will be higher at the gate, according to event organizer Ragan Riley.

The musical lineup for the festival includes several well-known regional vocalists and bands, including Randy Brown, Johnny Cooper, Bart Crow, Deryl Dodd, Phil Hamilton, Steve Helms, Jenna McDaniel, Brandon Rhyder, Sierra Scott Band, Larry Joe Taylor, and Wandering Daisy.

Ticket Options

General admission tickets are $60 until Friday afternoon, then will be $70 per person if purchased on Saturday.

A cooler can be brought in for a $25 cooler pass, or $30 on the day of the event.

VIP tickets are also being sold for $300 each, but are limited to the first 50 people.

There will be 100 preferred tickets available for $200, or $250 at the gate.

Preferred guests have front row seats at both stages and access to the tent.

VIP guests will have those privileges plus being admitted to the air-conditioned barn at the venue, where they can meet members of the bands and will have access to a free fajita meal and an all-day buffet with homemade desserts, snacks, tea, water, and soda.

All patrons can purchase food from one of five food trucks scheduled to be at the events, including the Dawg House, Three-Hearts BBQ, Tacolote, snow cones, and an ice cream truck.

The Albany girls basketball team will be the only ones selling water at the event, hoping to raise enough money for a special tournament.

Riley suggested bringing cash for the admission price and for food.

“We’re certainly not going to turn anyone down if they pay with a credit card, but having cash will speed things up,” she said.

Riley also said that all those over 21 will receive a special pass, so photo identification will be helpful.

“We’re expecting a good crowd judging from the early response, and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” she added.

Fundraising Effort

A hundred percent of the proceeds from the festival will be fed into ResourceCare’s community outreach programs in Albany, Baird, Breckenridge, Clyde, Cross Plains, and Merkel.

“But we want this to be a huge fundraiser for not only ResourceCare, but for the whole community,” said Riley.

ResourceCare programs include Summer Day Camp, senior citizens luncheons, ASPIRE, Vittles by Vehicle, Christmas for Teens, community outreach, and emergency assistance.
