Albany’s Classic Car Showwasoneofseveralcasualties of severe weather on Saturday, with the event cancelled well in advance so that participants and visitors could adjust their plans.

Robert Snyder and other organizers of the annual show made the call on Thursday afternoon, April 18, citing that chances of rain on Saturday were forecast at 100%.

And as it turned out,Albany saw rain from about 6:00 a.m. until almost that same time on Saturday evening, with some thunder and lightning mixed in for good measure.

The car show already had a back-up date of Saturday, May18,andSnyder said that plans are underway to get plenty of classic cars parked around the Bank Park that weekend.

“We will still host a Burger Burn fundraiser and the Burnout on Friday evening, May 17, with the car set to start at 8:00 a.m. the next morning,” Snyder said. “There were actually a lot of conflicts last Saturday anyway, and we’re thinking the May 18 date may work out better.”

The show is open to all classics, antiques, hot rods, customs, trucks, and more.

Several food vendors are expected to set up at the Bank Park during the day on May 18.

Snyder is actively seeking donations to help with the expenses of the event, and those who may want to make a contribution can call him at 325-762-4555.
