ResourceCare’s 24th year of Summer Day Camp kicks off a two-week run Monday, July 11.

“We’re expecting to have a great time,” Resource Care’s Mindy Ary said.

Day Camp is free to all registered children from age 3 and potty trained to sixth grade.

Ary said the campers are fairly equal among the different ages.

“Our numbers are pretty spread out from 3-year-olds through sixth grade,” she said.

Ary said campers will receive camp t-shirts the first day.

ResourceCare is still accepting donations to help cover the cost of the camp.

“Monetary donations would be easiest,” she said. “That way we can go buy the supplies that are needed. Sometimes, we’ll get too much of one thing, and we’ll be overloaded.”

The camp, which will conclude Friday, July 22, will serve 148 students with 28 high school workers and 16 junior high volunteers.

Workers and volunteers underwent orientation on Wednesday, June 29.

Campers will participate in various activities throughout each day, including swimming, trips to local businesses, arts and crafts, Vacation Bible School, and much more.

“The first week, we’ll be doing rotations,” Ary said. “We’ll go to The Feed Store. Friendship Baptist is allowing us to use their gym for recreation.”

Ary said rotations will continue during the second week.

“We’ll be rotating through some different churches for VBS in the mornings,” she said

All camp participants should be brought to the Youth Center each morning at 8:30 a.m., with 8:45 a.m. listed as the absolute latest dropoff time.

A breakfast snack will be served each morning, followed by a full lunch and afternoon snack.

Because food provided at Day Camp is funded through the Summer Food Program grant, no outside food or snacks are allowed.

Pickup for campers age 3 to kindergarten is 2:45 p.m. at the Youth Center. Campers in grades 1-6 should be picked up at 2:45 p.m. at the city park pavilion.

Monetary donations may be mailed to ResourceCare, Attn: Day Camp, P.O. Box 2435, Albany, Texas 76430.
