Camp registration ends today

Today is the last day to register campers or to sign up to work Day Camp 2020 to be held July 6-24.

ResourceCare program director Mindy Ary said registration at the Albany Youth Center will end Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

“If campers or workers are not signed up by 6:00 p.m. today, they will not be able to participate in day camp this year,” Ary said. “Government restrictions due to COVID-19 require strict guidelines be followed for registration.” 

Along with a completed form to attend camp, allergy information and RX medication to be administered during camp hours need to be provided no later than today.

Funding

Funding for day camp is down due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Camp is usually made possible by the United Way of Abilene, Albany Chest, local contributions, and fundraising events including CareFest in the fall, bake sales throughout the year, and work at the Fandangle grounds.

Funded from donations are the camper and staff t-shirt cost, meals and activities provided for the campers, along with paying 40 high school and adult staff members.

Monetary donations are needed, as well as bottled water, sunscreen, Fruit Loops, cornstarch, large marshmallows, pretzels, Goldfish, popcorn, cookies, Kool-Aid mix, and arts and craft supplies.

Donations can be dropped off today during registration or anytime at  ResourceCare, or picked up by request.
