Shackelford County commissioners worked through a fairly routine agenda in short order on Monday morning, Feb. 13, adjourning in under an hour.

A motion passed to lift the burn ban while there is some moisture in area pastures, to be revisited at the next meeting.

County judge John Viertel said he has granted several requests for burns in recent weeks in light of participation.

Even though the burn ban is inactive, landowners or others who plan to burn should contact the sheriff’s office so officials will know the timeline of the burn.

Camera System

Sheriff Ed Miller  stated that he only received one quote for additional cameras at the Law Enforcement Center, $3,428 from Big Country Surveillance of Hawley, a company he is comfortable working with.

A statute now requires cameras in the juvenile interview room, and a unit in the room where DWIs are processed needs to be replaced.

Miller’s request for an additional $60 contingency for wiring was approved.

Skid Steer Lease

Commissioner Steve Riley received permission for a three-year lease of a Bobcat skid steer.
