The Bulldog Report - June 26, 2025

Moran ISD will welcome a new principal and counselor for the 2025–26 school year.

Ryan McElroy, formerly of Hondo ISD, has been named principal. His wife, Destaney McElroy, will serve as the new school counselor and will also teach some classes. Additional details will be shared once the couple arrives on campus.

Jo Hise, who is stepping down after serving as principal through the 2024–25 school year, said the front office will close for summer beginning June 30 and will reopen July 28. Staff will be in and out during the break, and families are encouraged to leave a voicemail with any questions.

Hise Wraps Up Career with All-Star Win

Moran graduate Ellis Hise capped off his high school football career last weekend with an appearance in the Six-Man All-Star Football Game in Wichita Falls on June 21. Hise played as a member of the East Team, which came away with a 56-20 win.

“Ellis closed out his high school career on a good note,” said Moran head coach John Hughes. “He represented us well.”

Hise, a standout player for the Bulldogs, will begin a new chapter later this summer as he departs for the U.S. Marine Corps in August.

Summer Workouts

Continue

Meanwhile, summer conditioning continues for Moran athletes. Sessions are held Monday through Thursday from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the school gym.

The gym will be closed Wednesday through Friday, July 2–4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Workouts will resume Monday, July 7. A second break is planned for July 21–25.

Looking Ahead to Fall

Teacher in-service is scheduled to begin Monday, July 28, with the first day of class for the 2025–26 school year set for Monday, August 4.

Preseason football and volleyball practices will also begin that week, marking the official return to the fall sports schedule.
