Moran High School athlete Ellis Hise is finishing up a busy spring season with appearances at the district tennis tournament, regional track meet, and regional golf tournament.

He and Ezekiel Henson will travel to Angelo State University this Friday for the UIL regional academic meet. Henson will compete in the social studies event, while Hise advanced in ready writing.

Regional Track

Hise was Moran’s lone representative at the regional track meet held April 18-19 at Abilene Christian. He advanced out of district with a fourth place spot in the discus.

He ended up finishing 14th at the regional event with a throw of 99’03”.

“It was a good season for our kids,” said track coach John Hughes. “We will have a good nucleus of athletes returning next year along with some younger ones to fill in some gaps that will happen with graduation.”

Other Sports

Henson paired up with Dylan Herod in the boys doubles at the district tennis tournament in Clyde this week. They were defeated by Strawn 1-6, 0-6.

In boys singles, Hise won his first match against Boen from Eula 6-2, 6-1, then lost to Gergross from Baird 2-6, 4-6.

In the consolation game, he won over Eula 6-2, 6-1. This win created a playback situation with Hopkins from Strawn for second place. The Moran player was defeated 3-6, 1-6 in a match played on Tuesday morning.

“He’s had a very busy spring, and we are proud of him for all his accomplishments,” said his mother and tennis coach Jo Hise.

Ellis Hise was Moran’s only player to advance to the regional golf tournament played at Maxwell Golf Course in Abilene April 16-17. On the first day, he shot 148, with 124 recorded on the second day, including a hole in one on hole 7.
