Moran athletes competed at the area track meet last week, advancing one thrower and placing in several events.
Ellis Hise qualified for the regional competition, to be held next week at Abilene Christian University. Hise earned a fourth place spot in the discus with a throw of 109’05”.
“The kids competed well, and there was some improvement on times and throws,” coach John Hughes said. “Overall, I was extremely pleased with how they did.”
On the boys side, Moran scored four points to finish 13th overall.
“The girls were not able to score any points, but I’m still proud of how their season went,” Hughes said.
Jason Burge finished 8th in both the 800 and 1600.
Chelsea Thurman was 7th in the girls shot put, while Kielar Carr and Khloe Red Bear were both 8th in the 800 m. dash and the 100 m. hurdles, respectively.
The girls sprint relay team of Jayla Bussell, Brielle Logan, Lizzie Creek, and Red Bear came in 8th.
Hise is scheduled to compete in Elmer Gray Stadium on the ACU campus at 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 18.
