Break to start with early release days
By Sandy Morris
Albany Independent School District will break for the Christmas holidays beginning with a trio of early release days at 12:00 noon next Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 16-18.
With student early dismissal rounding out the last week of school before the holidays, everyone should be able to survive the five-day-long week and make it to the anticipated vacation.
Students will be off from Monday, Dec. 21 through Monday, Jan. 4, which is a holiday for students and a staff development day for teachers.
Both students and staff will return to school on Tuesday, Jan. 5 with classes at AISD resuming at the usual times.
Secondary Finals
Monday and Tuesday of next week will be regularly scheduled days, with semester finals set for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Semester finals at the secondary campus are set for 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday; and at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
All students will need to sign in as instructed, even if they are exempt from finals.
Students who have been in quarantine will be allowed on campus from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.
Exams for periods one, two, and three take place on Wednesday, Dec. 16, and tests covering periods four, five, and six are scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 17.
Finals for periods seven and eight, as well as any needed make-up exams, will be given on Friday, Dec. 18.
High school students will come and go on those three days based upon their exam schedules.
Junior high students will stay until the designated dismissal times on those three days.
