Boys FCA camp to start Friday night

The Big Country Fellowship of Christian Athletes Weekend of Champions boys camp is set for Friday, Feb. 18, through Sunday, Feb. 20, at Eastland’s Solid Rock Encampment.

FCA organizer Paul Johnston of Albany said the event will follow a similar format to the girls camp held last month.

“There’ll be four or five speakers, all ex-college athletes,” Johnston said. “They’ll be talking about integrity, character, what it means to be Christian young men.”

The camp is open to boys in eighth grade through high school. Johnston said activities and messages are specifically geared for a male audience.

“Campers will be able to have a little bit of competition and have some fun or exercise,” Johnston said.

Check-in for the camp begins at 5:00 p.m. Friday.

“If someone has basketball games, they can show up late or they can get up and come early Saturday morning,” Johnston said. “Everything’s pretty much the same as the girls camp except that we’re starting on Friday instead of Saturday morning.”
