Booster Club needs volunteers

The Albany Athletic Booster Club is again seeking volunteers to work its seat-cushion fundraiser during the Fort Griffin Fandangle.

Albany junior high and high school athletes traditionally rent seat cushions for $1 at Fandangle performances and collect them after the show.

All incoming seventh through 12th graders and parents are asked to help with the fundraiser. Volunteers do not have to be involved in Fandangle performances in order to work.

Athletes should be at the Prairie Theater at 7:00 p.m. each night and stay until after the performance to help collect cushions and return them to storage.

Work schedules have been arranged to assure that each class works one performance, Booster Club member Amanda Tabor said.

Seniors and seventh grade boys are scheduled to work Friday, June 17, with freshmen and seventh grade girls handling Saturday, June 18. The second weekend will have sophomores and eighth grade boys working Friday, June 24, with juniors and eighth grade girls on Saturday, June 25.

“We’ll have a Booster Club officer in charge each night,” Tabor said.

Other Business

In other Booster Club news, Tabor said a kickoff meeting will be held in July, but the date has yet to be decided.

“We’re waiting to get everybody back from vacation,” she said.

Among the items to be discussed are advertising sales for football programs. Tabor said she expects ad sizes to be the same as last year, ranging from business card to full page.

The Booster Club will kick off the 2022-23 school year with the traditional Ice Cream Supper on Monday, Aug. 8.
