Big pet turnout parades around Bank Park

Over 30 animals including several dogs, a couple of ponies, a cow, a rabbit, and a guinea pig were entered in the annual Fandangle Pet Parade last week at the Bank Park, and all of the participants went home with a prize and/or a participation treat.

“The parade was very well attended this year,” said parade organizer Sidney Bartee. “We had more entries than we were expecting!”

The exhibitors each took their pet down the sidewalk and past the judges on Friday afternoon, and winners were awarded in each of five divisions.

Prizes awarded to the winners included free dog vaccinations to the Best In Show winner courtesy of Albany Pet Hospital, one free dog grooming from Lively Dog House to the winner of the Most Creative Costume, and $10 gift certificates from EZ Feed for the other three division winners.

“All of the winners got bags full of treats, and we had more treats available on a table for anyone to pick up,” Bartee added.

Dog treats were provided by Dr. Gary Fambro.

Pet Parade Winners

Winners named in last Friday’s informal pet show are as follows:

Overall Best in Show was won by Sugar, a miniature Hereford heifer, and Bailey, a blue merle Corgi, both owned by Madalyn Gonzales. The animals were dressed as a bank robber and sheriff.

Sydney Key’s dog Freddie was Overall runner-up in his kissing booth costume.

The Most Creative Costume was awarded to Tiffany Rio’s animals Winny, Puma, and Rabbit. Second in the Most Creative were Chase and Alli McDaniel’s cheerleaders Molly, Dixie, and Lexi.

The Best Wild West Costume went to Joey Baker and Lucy, a dog dressed as a saloon girl. Taking second in the Best Wild West was Kim Bryan and her dog Winnie, who was dressed as a Pink Lady.

The Most Unique Pet went to Cameron Burton’s horse Scout. The duo were dressed as a princess and unicorn. Second place was given to Harper Hargett and Coco, another pony, attired in a sparkles outfit.

Priscilla Collingwood won the Best Summer Costume with her guinea pig Ellie and a shark attack costume. Second in the division was Lorrie Nelson’s dog Tinky, who was decked out for the season in a swimsuit.
