A local resident was surprised with a special presentation last week for her 20-year effort that resulted in her raising over $100,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Beverly Rogers of Albany was honored during a visit and educational presentation by the regional director of the group at the local senior center last Thursday, Sept. 22.

Rogers has participated in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s for 20 years, also serving as the local chairman for most of that time.

“We wanted to honor Beverly and the Albany community for their contributions to the Alzheimer cause through participation and support of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s campaign,” said regional director Kristin Bishop. “Beverly is celebrating 20 years of support and the incredible fundraising milestone of $100,000 of lifetime fundraising.”

The annual Walk to End Alzheimer is set for Saturday, Oct. 8 at Grover Nelson Park, 2070 Zoo Lane in Abilene.

Registration is set for 9:00 a.m., followed by opening remarks and the Promise Garden Ceremony. The Walk will start at 9:50 a.m.

Fourteen counties make up the North Central Texas Chapter headquartered in Abilene.

Rogers became involved in the cause while working as a caregiver.

Rogers has worked to rally local volunteers and donors for this 20th campaign.

She credited local residents Tracy Sullivan, Mary Beth Jones, and fellow volunteer Randy Hayes for their assistance.

Contributions can be made by calling Rogers at 325-762-4293.
