Believe Tree deadline extended
By Sam Waller
The deadline for providing items to Believe Tree for Teens has been extended to Tuesday, Dec. 13, according to Feed Store director Tisha Wilkins, with the Believe Trees to be placed in churches this weekend.
Wilkins had originally planned to have the trees in place by Nov. 26, but several late applications came in last week.
Gifts should be unwrapped and include gift receipts if possible and the teen number labeled on the bag.
Albany gifts may be picked up from 2:30-3:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. Moran gifts will be delivered Monday, Dec. 19 with the help of Moran principal Jo Hise.
The Feed Store accepts donations for Believe Tree for Teens, which provides gifts for approximately 40 junior high and high school students in Shackelford County each year.
Wilkins said eight local churches are participating in the program sponsored by the Albany Ministerial Alliance – Albany Methodist, Bethel Assembly, First Baptist, First Christian, Friendship Baptist, Maranatha Fellowship, Matthews Memorial Presbyterian, and Trinity Lutheran.
Wilkins said the number of applications for Believe Tree is up from past years with 49. From 2018 to 2021, between 35 and 45 applications were received in any year.
