The Albany Ministerial Alliance will distribute proceeds of its Christmas Basket program at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.

Moran recipients can pick up their baskets at 3:00 p.m. that day at First Baptist Church of Moran.

Baskets for Vittles by Vehicles recipients  will be delivered Monday, Dec. 19 with their meals.

Alliance secretary Tisha Wilkins said that while the number of applicants is down somewhat this year, volunteers are still needed to help distribute baskets.

“Most churches have gotten a group together if needed. Since our delivery count is down, I don’t need as many volunteers for Sunday. But anybody who wants to help can come to The Feed Store on Sunday, and we’ll put them to work.”

The annual food drive strives to provide a box filled with the ingredients needed for a traditional holiday meal to families in need of assistance.

Donations for the holiday meals can be handed to any ministers in the Alliance or mailed to the Ministerial Alliance at PO Box 3084, Albany, Texas 76430.

Believe Trees

Wilkins said the Alliance’s Believe Tree for Teens program has increased on what was already a record number of applicants.

“We had two additional teens come in, so we’re at 51 teens,” she said. “Since the Ministerial Alliance has been doing it, it’s the most we’ve had.”

Albany gifts may be picked up from 2:30-3:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.

Moran gifts will be delivered Monday, Dec. 19 with the help of Moran principal Jo Hise.

The Feed Store accepts donations for Believe Tree for Teens, which provides gifts for 40-50 junior high and high school students in Shackelford County each year.

Tuesday Lunches

The Feed Store held its final Tuesday Lunch of 2022 for Albany High School juniors and seniors this week.

Wilkins said the weekly lunches will resume Tuesday, Jan. 10 and continue except for school holidays. Albany ISD will take its spring break March 13-17.
