Basket applications due Friday
By Kathy Thomson
Applications for the Albany Ministerial Alliance Christmas Baskets must be turned in by this Friday, Dec. 6.
Those still needing forms can pick them up at participating churches or at the Resource Center in Albany.
The program provides food for a Christmas dinner based upon family size.
Non-perishable food will be sorted into bags by members of Nancy Smith Elementary School’s sixth grade leadership team.
Community volunteers will be needed at The Feed Store at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22 to add cold items including pies, turkey, or ham to each order and deliver the Christmas food baskets.
Basket deliveries will be grouped by specific areas and mapped for the volunteer drivers.
“It shouldn’t take longer than 30 minutes,” said Alliance secretary Tisha Wilkins. “But we do need multiple groups.”
Recipients who selected home delivery must have someone present at their house when the basket is delivered on Dec. 22 due to perishable food items that can not be left on the doorstep.
“If the basket is being picked up at The Feed Store, it should be picked up between 2:30 and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22,” said Wilkins. “If the basket is being picked up at a church, please contact that church pastor for the time.”
Contributions can be given to any of the participating pastors or mailed to the Ministerial Alliance, PO Box 3084, Albany, Texas 76430.
