The Albany Ministerial Alliance is accepting applications for Christmas baskets from Shackelford County residents who wish to be included in the annual drive.

The annual event provides Christmas baskets to families in need and include various food items for a healthy traditional holiday meal.

Baskets offer a choice of a whole uncooked turkey, a pre-cooked turkey breast or a pre-cooked ham, in addition to vegetables and other holiday side dishes.

People who need assistance can pick up an application for a basket at the Resource Center and from the churches in the Ministerial Alliance now through Tuesday, Dec. 1.

Tisha Wilkins with the Ministerial Alliance stressed the importance of returning applications by the Dec. 1 deadline.

“Any applications received after the Dec. 1 deadline will not be guaranteed to receive a Christmas basket,” said Wilkins. “Also, only one application per household is allowed so we can help as many families as possible.”

The forms ask for basic information including the number of people in the household and their ages, along with an option of having baskets delivered or picked up.

Christmas baskets will be delivered on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be perishable items in the basket so someone will need to be present to accept the basket. Baskets will not be left at an unoccupied home.

Resource Care will have employees and volunteers to deliver to all of the Vittles by Vehicles recipients prior to the Sunday, Dec. 13 delivery date.

The Albany time for basket pickup is Sunday, Dec. 13 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at The Feed Store.

The Moran pickup time is Sunday, Dec. 13 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Moran First Baptist Church.

Donations to help fund the Christmas baskets can be mailed to the Ministerial Alliance, PO Box 3084, Albany, Texas 76430 or handed to any of the ministers in the Alliance.
