The Albany school bands will present a spring concert on Thursday, May 18 in the high school auditorium, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with the sixth grade band.

The fifth grade band will take the stage at 6:45 p.m., followed by the seventh grade and the high school band at 7:30 p.m.

The concerts will mark the end of the band performances for the school year. The public is invited to attend, and no admission will be charged.

Band director William Vaughan said he will present awards to outstanding musicians in each group.

The sixth graders will play “Banana Boat,” “Indigo Rock,” and “After Shock” starting at 6:00 p.m.

The fifth grade beginner band will play a collection of short traditional songs starting at 6:45 p.m.

At 7:30 p.m., the seventh graders will present “Mystery Ride” and “Colliding Visions.” The high school band will combine with the seventh graders to play “Shadows Unleashed.”

Then the high school band, which includes grades 8-12, will play “Great Locomotive Chase,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and the UIL concert contest program, which includes “Red Cape,” “Hypnotic Fire Flies,” and “Heroes Triumphant.”

Vaughan added that the schedule for summer band rehearsals for the high school band will be announced at the concert.

The high school band has won back-to-back Sweepstakes Awards with Division I ratings in marching, concert, and sight reading for the last two years.
