Albany band director William Vaughan has scheduled 2021-2022 summer band rehearsals for students starting July 19 for percussionists.

The band camp is for all eighth through 12th grade band members.

The band will practice marching and playing their UIL marching contest songs and begin work on stand tunes for football games.

Practices will begin on July 19 for percussion only.

Practice for members of the percussion section will begin at 3:00 p.m. and end at 5:00 p.m., continuing through Thursday, July 22.

Starting July 26, percussion sessions will be held at the same times, and all other band members will begin at 6:00 and end at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

On Wednesday, July 28, band members will practice at 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. so students can attend church.

Students will not have practices on Fridays.

On Aug. 2 through Aug. 13, all band members will practice from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, while Wednesday practice will be from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

On Aug. 16, the band will practice from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. and parents are invited to attend the parent performance beginning at 8:00 p.m. at the Robert Nail Memorial Stadium.

The band held a workday on Tuesday, July 6 at the Nancy Smith Elementary School band hall.

Band members and supporters helped clean, paint, organize, inventory, perform maintenance, and transport items from the high school to the elementary.

According to Vaughan, another workday may have to be scheduled to finish painting.

Parents are asked to attend an upcoming Band Boosters meeting, for which a time will be set in the near future.
