By Sidney Bartee

Summer rehearsals for all band members began on Monday, July 25 with no practices scheduled for Fridays.

On Monday, Aug. 2, percussionists will not have separate practice, but will join the rest of the band from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Wednesday night practices are from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. so students can attend church.

Students will continue to rehearse, splitting their time between inside and outside practice, until Monday, Aug. 16.

On that day, students will rehearse at regular times, and community members are invited to attend a Band Community Night beginning at 8:00 p.m. at Robert Nail Memorial Stadium.

The band will perform everything they’ve practiced during summer practices.

The Band Booster Club will have snacks, shirts, car decals, and yard signs available to purchase at the event.

According to Band Booster secretary Kelli Kreitler, everyone is encouraged to attend the event.

The Booster Club is planning multiple fundraisers throughout the school year to fund a band trip to Colorado and to help minimize costs for students.

Kreitler also stated the Booster Club members are looking for volunteers to be a part of the organization.

“Anyone wishing to join may contact any officer to be added to the roster,” Kreitler said. “Being a booster member does not mean that you must work on every event or volunteer in each fundraiser. We hope to increase our numbers to ensure that all students, in all band programs, are supported and have their needs met.”

Booster Officers

At its last meeting, the Band Booster Club members elected officers for the 2021-2022 school year, including president – Pam Bean, vice-president – Lori Alexander, secretary – Kelli Kreitler, and treasurer – Natalie Picquet.

The club also began concession stand plans for the second half of the football season.

“We looked at finding committees and are seeking designated persons to help with concession stand staffing/inventory, and grade level parent representatives to help meet the needs and communicate with parents at all grade levels,” Kreitler said.

The next Booster Club meeting is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 13 at 5:30 p.m.

After the meeting, volunteers will set up for an end-of-summer practice party for students.
