Members of the Ragin’ Red Band are hosting a Community Night, scheduled for the last evening of summer band rehearsals, Monday, Aug. 16, with a special program beginning at 8:00 p.m. at Robert Nail Memorial Stadium.

The AHS musicians will perform everything they’ve been working on throughout the last couple of weeks, including marching and playing the opener of their 2021 show, warm-ups and drills, and stand tunes.

Band members will be introduced and recognized for their hard work, said band director Will Vaughan.

The UIL marching competition for this year is scheduled for Oct. 2, and the local musicians will continue working on their contest show, performing during the halftimes of all varsity football games.

Aug. 16 Fundraisers

The Band Booster Club has fundraisers planned during next Monday’s event.

Tables will be set up so that supporters can purchase decals, t-shirts, and yard signs.

Snacks will also be available during the event.

Fundraisers throughout the year will help fund the band’s trip to Colorado during Spring Break.

Parents can also sign up to purchase water for game nights, rehearsal treats, and concession stand shifts for the second half of the football season.

More new changes for this year’s band include new uniforms.

Vaughan said the new uniforms are taking longer to be produced because of manufacturing complications caused by COVID.

The band will continue to practice through this Friday from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on weekdays except for Wednesdays, when it’s 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Percussionists will meet at 3:30 p.m.
