Band performs at Titanic Museum

The Ragin’ Red Band completed the biennial spring trip on Sunday, returning from Branson, Missouri after performing at the Titanic Museum, attending a musical show, andspendingadayatSilver Dollar City.

“The trip went very smoothly, and the kids all had a blast,” director William Vaughan said. “They were very responsible, punctual and performed well at the museum.”

The band toured the Titanic Museum, as well as performing for other guests. They attended a music show featuring the Haygoods and experienced theamusementparkSilver Dollar City before heading home on a charter bus on Sunday.

After spring break, the band will continue to prepare for concert and sight reading competition set for March 26 at Cooper High School in Abilene, hoping to earn a third straight Sweepstakes Award with Division I ratings in both contests.

The band earned a Division I at the marching contest lastfall,andiftheyearn two more Division I ratings inconcertandsightreading later this month, the group willearnathirdconsecutive Sweepstakes Award.

The band won its first sweepstakes in 40 years in 2022, which was only the third time in school history. The first sweepstakes was in 1962, followed by the second in 1982.

The high school band, which includes students in grades eight through 12, are working on three concert selections: Marche Diabolique by Balmades, DancefromSimpleGiftsby Ticheli, and Brave Spirit by Standridge.
