Shackelford County residents are reminded that Closet Angels’ “Back to School Bash” is set for today (Thursday) from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

Free hot dogs and water will be provided by First Financial Bank during the 1-1/2 hour event, which will be held at 132 S. Jacobs Street, across from Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Shopping for back-to-school apparel is the emphasis for the evening, and $5 donations are suggested but never expected, according to Closet Angels coordinator Lori Reames.

Some of the premium pieces of clothing and accessories on a “fundraiser rack” are marked with special prices.

Also, those who shop can sign up for drawings, which will include a $100 cash prize for one family and one student attending Albany or Moran schools, several more $50 cash prizes, and gift cards from local businesses.

In addition to clothing, the ministry tries to help with other back-to-school items, said Lori Reames.

“We can always use donations for anything students need to get ready for the school year, including hygiene products like deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body sprays, shower gel, blow dryers, flat irons, etc.,” said Reames. “We also have a bin for school supplies.”

She added that organizers have been collecting and sorting athletic shoes and name brand clothing, as well as purchasing new socks and underwear.

The local facility is open every Monday from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. and on second Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Those with questions can call Reames at 325-721-8620.
