ASPIRE  will get underway at Nancy Smith Elementary School on Monday, Sept. 28 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.

ASPIRE, standing for Active Student Participation Inspires Real Engagement, is for third and fourth grade students and is held weekly Monday through Wednesday.

Nickie Leveridge will be running the ASPIRE program this year.

Funding is provided by the United Way of Abilene through Resource Care, Albany Community Chest, and other local fundraising efforts.

Cub Academy

NSES also provides  time after school to help fifth and sixth graders get an academic boost.

Cub Academy started two weeks ago and is held weekly Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

There are two fifth grade teachers and two sixth grade teachers who rotate days to cover Cub Academy.

The one hour after-school period is available for any fifth or sixth students to stay and make up assignments or get extra help. Teachers may assign a day for a student to stay and make up a missed test as well.

For more information on either one of these programs, contact NSES at 325-762-3384.
