The Big Country chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes hosted the second event in their annual Weekend of Champions this past Saturday, Jan. 30.

This year, the Weekend of Champions camps were designed to be one day only with the boys’ event being held at Beltway South in Abilene.

FCA Big Country East representative Paul Johnston said the day was equally as amazing as the girls’ event the previous weekend on Jan. 23 in Eastland.

“We had a great turnout,” said Johnston. “Lots of positives came out of this gathering.”

Johnston said there were 65 people in attendance with approximately 41 boys present.

The all-male event included four speakers and personal testimonies, plus a live band for the worship portion of the day.

Johnston said the feedback from the attendees was all positive.

“The boys had the same question that the girls did last weekend, and that was ‘When is this scheduled for next year?’” said Johnston.

The goal of the event is to minister to high school students on how to make Godly decisions and what it looks like to pursue godliness in various aspects of their lives as young men and women.
