The sounds of love songs – all types – were in the air Saturday during a musical performance called “The Seasons of Love,” presented by a group of local singers to benefit the Aztec Theater.

Performing on the Aztec stage, about a dozen local singers and several musicians presented a variety of music dedicated to love one way or another. The evening of music was attended by about 200 audience members, with proceeds benefitting the theater.

This was the sixth show over the past eight years by the group, performed to benefit local causes.

“It went well and everyone seemed to have a good time,” said the musical’s director and keyboard accompanist Sandy Abel. “The crowd was little smaller, but we had a good mix of songs and the audience was very receptive.”

Several local musicians backed up the singers on variety of instruments to round out the stage band. Several of the band members also sang.

“This group of performers has been working together for quite a while,” Abel said. “They are like a family, and they definitely pulled it together and hit the mark – they’re all pros.”

Singers this year included Ginny Ivy, Kirstin Hilliard, Kayla McCauley, Carley Price, Brittney Harmon, Lorna Ayers, Mimi Ivy, Megan Ledbetter, and Dally and Ayers Bezner.

Band members included Sandy Abel, John Caldwell, Keith Kniffen, Zach Harmon, Randall Palmore and George Harvick, with Jenny Scott on lights and Russell Caney on the sound board.
