And The Winner Is...
By Sam Waller
Twenty-seven winners, including two multiple winners, were announced Tuesday morning in a drawing for 1,500 Albany Bucks conducted by the Albany Chamber of Commerce.
Lucy Carter was drawn three times, winning 150 Albany Bucks, and Sandy Shirley won twice in the drawing held at Vintage Vanilla.
Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones posted a video of the drawing on Facebook.
“I’ll also call people to let them know they’ve won,” Jones said.
Drawings on Friday, Dec. 17 will be conducted in three groups of 10 with a short break in between.
Nearly 2,500 Albany Bucks will be distributed from drawings, the Lighted Christmas Parade, and house decorating contest.
Shoppers will have until Feb. 15 to use their Albany Bucks, which can be redeemed at any Chamber-member business.
Decorating Contest
Albany residents can earn more Albany Bucks by participating in the Chamber’s house decorating contest.
First place will receive 100 Albany Bucks, with 75 for second place and 50 for third. Residents must be entered to be judged for the contest.
Jones said entries will be accepted until the start of judging and that residents may enter a neighbor’s home if they deem it worthy. Judging will be conducted in the evenings of Dec. 17-19.
Winners will be announced Dec. 20.
Memorial Ornaments
Memorial ornaments are still available at a cost of $5 each. Jones said ornaments may be purchased at the Chamber office during regular business hours.
The name of the person to be memorialized will be written on the ornament, and it will be hung on the Chamber’s Christmas tree at the Bank Park.
Ornaments may be taken home after the holiday season.
