Tickets are on sale for Albany Mainstreet Playhouse’s The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and the first of three performances will be this Saturday evening following the lighted Christmas parade.

“This Saturday in Albany is the best way to kick off the Christmas season,” said play director Lorna Ayers. “Come for the parade and stay for the play! The entire family will be entertained.”

Ayers is being assisted by Ragan Riley.

Samuel French’s comedy is a full-length play based on Barbara Robinson’s best-selling book with the same name.

“The stars of our show are 14 elementary age students,” said Ayers. “They are supported by a talented adult cast.”

Rehearsals have been held two to three nights a week for the past month.

Performance times are 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30 after the Christmas parade, and matinees at 2:30 p.m. on both Sunday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 8.

Tickets are available in advance at The Albany News and at the door shortly before the shows. Prices are $15 for adults and $8 for students.
