The Albany Chamber of Commerce and Beverly Rogers, captain of Team Albany, have joined other Big Country residents in the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease.

The Chamber has organized “Giving a Boot to Alzheimer’s, Cruise for a Cure,” to help Rogers along with Randy Hayes, who will drive up and down Main Street in Albany on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The “cruise night” coincides with the 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Abilene.

Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones said there will be a drive-through collection point in the Chamber parking lot where contributors can drop donations in a boot during the one-hour event.

Jones added that all vehicles are welcome.

Rogers has been participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s for at least 18 years and has raised nearly $75,000, and she does not plan to quit until she raises $100,000.

“I thank God for His presence in the hearts of our community,” Rogers said. “We are so thankful for the answered prayers and donations to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s.”
