Albany seniors prepare for busy final month

A whirlwind of activities is already underway as members of the Albany High School Class of 2025 face a busy May schedule, ending with commencement exercises and Project Graduation on May 23.
Class members already celebrated with the annual Progressive Dinner on Sunday, April 27, during which the seniors were bused to three locations.
Photographs have been turned in for the senior slide show, and one baby picture along with a complete bio form for each senior should be delivered to the Albany News or the high school office for the annual graduation section by today, May 1.
The AHS prom is this weekend, set for Saturday night, May 3 at the Whitney Theatre.
Ads for the graduation section are due by next Tuesday, May 6.
All seniors and the six junior ushers need to return Project Graduation forms to the school office by Wednesday, May 7 in order to attend the all-night party.
There is a Powder Puff game planned on Wednesday, May 21, with the spring band concert set at 6:00 p.m. May 8.
The annual Academic Banquet is May 12, with the Athletic Banquet on the following night, May 13.
Seniors will meet at the high school at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16. The group will stop at First Christian Church for breakfast, after which the bus will leave for Six Flags.
Caps and gowns can be picked up by parents that same day. National Honor Society, FFA sashes, and valedictorian and salutatorian sashes are loaned by the school and taken up after Baccalaureate and graduation exercises.
The Baccalaureate ceremony is scheduled at 4:00 p.m. at the high school auditorium, which will also include the First Baptist Church’s traditional Bible presentation. Seniors need to be in the high school library by 3:15 p.m. for group pictures.
Graduation practice will be held at 8:50 a.m. Thursday, May 23 in the Albany High School gym. Individual pictures will be taken at that time. Seniors should bring caps, gowns, and tassels to the practice.
Graduation exercises will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 23 in the local gym.
Project Graduation will begin at 10:30 p.m. that evening with all graduates and junior ushers checking in at the Feed Store. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening. The all-night party will end 5:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24.
