Albany High School  senior Addie Beth Denton signed with the Cisco College Rodeo Team on Monday, March 22.

Denton, who competed in her first rodeo at age three, said it’s always been a goal of hers to rodeo in college.

“My mom was on a college rodeo team in Louisiana, and all three of my older siblings rodeoed in high school,” said Denton. “I knew I wanted to continue to compete after I got out of high school, and I’m excited to get this opportunity.”

Denton has participated in a number of events but will focus on barrels, poles, and breakaway roping while at Cisco.

“Breakaway roping became my favorite event a few years ago,” she said.

Denton has had her share of adversities with broken bones during the past few years, but the AHS athlete has managed to come back strong, earning a number of titles.

In 2016, she was named the Texas Junior Rodeo Association All-Around Cowgirl.

Denton was selected as the 2017 and 2019 Cisco All-Around Cowgirl.

Last year, Denton was the 2020 Region 3 High School Rodeo Breakaway Champion.

The Albany senior will move to Cisco in August with three of her horses to prepare for her first collegiate rodeo in September.

Denton is the daughter of Myron and Dena Denton.
