Rehearsals continued this week for the 2022 production of “The Nativity,” scheduled for two performances on Dec. 10 and 11 at the Aztec Theater.

Practices for each scene started two weeks ago.

“The sets will start going up on the stage beginning Sunday and continuing next week,” director Lorna Ayers said. “There is only one rehearsal, and it’s on Monday during Thanksgiving week, but we start back in earnest on Monday, Nov. 28.”

Ayers said that is increasingly important for all cast members to participate when their scene is scheduled.

“We’ll only have a couple of weeks after Thanksgiving to get ready,” she said. “We haven’t had everyone there to practice the individual scenes, so it is really important to show up now.”

Ayers said that she has had signed participation slips returned to the school office for about 35 members of the children’s choir.

“If there are children who want to be involved in the songs in the finale, a parent can contact me or Ragan Riley,” Ayers said. “It is still not too late, but we need to have an exact count so we know who is coming.”

Tickets for the two performances will be available free of charge at the box office prior to each show.

The Saturday, Dec. 10 performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., while the second show on Sunday, Dec. 11 is set for 2:00 p.m.

She added that anyone interested in singing in the adult choir can contact Sandy Abel at 325-660-2187 to find out when that choir is rehearsing. The adult choir sings at various points through the play. Abel is the music director and accompanies on the organ.

Ayers added that the doors will open 45 minutes prior to each performance and seats are available on a first-come basis.
