Tickets are still available for the upcoming Chris Knight concert set for Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Aztec Theater.

The performance is sponsored by Albany Live, a nonprofit organized last fall to bring live musical events to Albany. Knight’s show is the second in an ongoing singer/songwriter series that will continue monthly through July.

“There are still a little over 100 seats remaining for the Chris Knight concert,” said Trey Davis, a committee member handling band relations and ticket sales for this performance.

Tickets are available on the group’s website: www.albanylive.org. Prices are $50 for general admission and $75 for reserved seating in the front two rows.

Davis reported that the upcoming show on Feb. 19 with Shane Smith and the Saints has already sold out.

A total of 286 tickets are available for each performance, with front two rows of each show sold as reserved seating and the remaining available as general admission.

“Albany people are used to buying tickets at the door, and we still have availability right now for the Knight concert,” Davis said. “But Chris is an edgy songwriter who has some die-hard fans, so we are hoping to sell out.”

Davis suggested not waiting until the day of a concert to buy tickets for any of the concerts ahead since the series is drawing attention from music lovers outside of Albany.

Just last week, tickets became available on the website for the March 10 Paul Cauthen concert, and they are already selling well, according to Davis.

“We are hoping to get this going for the Aztec and for Albany,” he said. “We think this can be really good for the downtown stores and restaurants.”

Albany Live plans to bring regular musical performances to the Aztec.

“We are hoping that if this series is successful, we will be able to bring in even bigger performers for the next series,” Davis said.

VIP passes will allow ticket holders to meet the artists, along with other perks. Memberships or patron packages for an entire series are also available, providing season tickets for all concerts, as well as recognition in promoting shows and access to the VIP lounge, which includes refreshments.

Both tickets and VIP passes are available on the website.

According to a release by his publicist, Knight’s music has always been outside the mainstream, filled with “searing tales of rural characters, fringe survivors, and tumultuous small-town existence.”

Knight writes about what he knows, according the release. Raised in mining country, he earned a degree in agriculture from Western Kentucky University, then worked as a mine reclamation inspector and mine consultant.

The artist has a number of singles and nine albums to his credit.

Other upcoming concerts include Radney Roster on April 29, Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis on June 4, and James McMurtry on July 20.
