Drive Across Texas recently posted an eight-and-a-half minute segment about Albany on their website and their Youtube channel.

The show’s host, Pat Walker, interviewed Chamber of Commerce office manager Mary Beth Jones outside the Old Jail Art Center on Wednesday, April 17.

“We talked about the Old Jail and how the Masons carved their initials in the blocks for payment,” said Jones. “We also talked about why people should come to Albany.”

Topics that were included in the edited version include the Old Jail Art Center, True West Magazine ranking Albany as one of the top 10 western towns in the United States, Fort Griffin, the Depot, Cook Children’s Hospital, the Georgia Monument, Albany football, and community pride.

The film clip can be viewed online at www.driveacrosstexas.com by clicking on the Panhandle Plains icon listed under Videos.

“Drive Across Texas is an interactive series that brings a little piece of Texas to you with every episode,” said operations manager Wendy Johnson. “Here at Drive Across Texas we look for unique, interesting finds, people, events, and more that bring people a little closer to the Texas we all know and love. Community events that bring people together, organizations that touch lives, people with unique talents, forgotten places and Texas history are just a few areas that we seek to bring to life.”

Drive Across Texas works in conjunction with Stryk TV, a Houston market cable network channel. The channel is distributed through Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas by Skitter TV.

The Albany segment was shared numerous times on social media over the past several weeks.
