The pick-up date for the July distribution of the commodity food program will be Thursday, July 2  both in Moran and Albany.

Justice of the Peace James Breeden said the change in date and time will be for this month only to accommodate residents in both towns, since the county offices will be closed Friday, July 3, for Independence Day weekend.

JP office personnel organize and facilitate the local food program for the county.

Breeden said there will be no restrictions this month. Cold and dry bags of food will both be available.

Certified families in Moran will be able to pick up their monthly commodity food at the Moran City Hall between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Albany families who have been certified eligible for the July food distribution can pick up their commodity food at the back door of the JP office also from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Recipients who are unable to pick up in person can send a signed and dated note with someone to pick up their commodities for them, rather then letting the food go unclaimed.

The commodity food program is federally funded and works to improve the health of low-income and elderly people at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA commodity foods.
