Board members of the Albany Chest will meet to organize the 2018 fundraising drive, nominate and elect new directors, and elect officers for the coming year during a 5:00 p.m. meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at The Feed Store.

According to board secretary Tisha Wilkins, four of the current directors will be completing their current term, and positions held by Mindy Skelton, Sara Wilson, Wilkins, and Amy Kelly will be up for election this year. Wilson was elected in 2017 to complete the unexpired term that ends this year, replacing Grant Zeller after he moved out of town.

According to the Chest by-laws, directors can serve up to two terms before they cycle off, and all four are eligible for a second term.

“We will be taking nominations for new directors,” Wilkins said. “Those interested in serving should contact me or Amy Kelly, and we will submit your names for consideration.”

Current Chest officers are president Amy Kelly, vice chair and public relations Donnie Lucas, secretary Tisha Wilkins, and parliamentarian Susie Beard. Paige Adair serves as treasurer, which is an appointed position.

Keri Hebel, Austin Sherwood, Clint Chapman, Robert Dacus, Lacey Anderson, and Susan Montgomery complete the board.

“Please be sure and let me know if you can make it, so we can have an idea of who will be here,” said Wilkins. “Hopefully everyone will be able to attend and directors will be willing to serve again.”

Applications for Chest funding will soon be available from either local bank or at The Albany News.

Donations can be left at the same locations or mailed to Albany Chest, PO Box 2019, Albany TX 76430.
