A community-wide clean-up day, promoted annually by the Albany Chamber of Commerce, has been scheduled for Saturday, June 12.

All area citizens are encouraged to come out and help work on projects aimed at beautifying the town of Albany, and the annual clean-up day is a good way for many people to get volunteer hours.

“Those who would like to volunteer can meet at the Depot at 8:00 a.m.,” said Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones.

Many projects have been completed on this specific day in the past, including removing debris from walking paths, cleaning up roads, and other tasks to make the town of Albany more appealing.

“We will be working around downtown and towards the Fandangle grounds,” said Jones. “We want everything to look nice when the show kicks off.”

A roll-off and a tire disposal truck will be available for use on clean-up day, and residents are reminded that once the tire truck is full, tires may not be left outside of the truck.

The day is largely dependent on volunteers, and they are encouraged to bring any equipment or supplies they have to assist in the sprucing up of the city.

“We hope that everyone in the community will come out and help with this project,” said Jones. “We always want to make Albany look nice and clean for the upcoming summer season since we attract so many visitors.”

Citizens who need assistance from volunteers should contact the Chamber office at 325-762-2525  to request help.
