Albany News

Albany ISD trustees continue to work their way through the list of applicants for the post of AISD superintendent with another special meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 10 and a closed session at the end of the regular business meeting on Monday, Oct. 15.

No action or discussion about the candidates has been held in open forum, but the board is starting the interview process this week and is expected to announce a lone finalist by the end of November.

In addition to routine agenda items, the trustees also accepted, with regrets, the resignation of longtime  AISD educator Danita Johnston, who plans to retire effective Dec. 31.

•The review for the district’s Business Procedures Manual for 2018-2019 was approved with minor changes.

•Interim superintendent Doyleen Terrell reported that enrollment as of Monday was 496, with two new students checking in that day, down 26 from the end of school last spring, but up from the first day total of 483.
