Teachers and staff at Albany ISD have been on a food adventure this week thanks to the Albany PTO, along with the support of local businesses and individuals.

Staff members on both campuses were provided with a passport for meals from around the world, along with gift bags in celebration of Teacher and Staff Appreciation.

The week-long celebration began on Monday with barbecue catered to both campuses, plus a visit to the Kona Shaved Ice truck.

The high school staff had tickets to an All-American lunch on Tuesday catered by Happy Grill, while the elementary was visited by Melissa’s Mexican food truck. There was also a delivery by H Tea O.

Wednesday featured Chinese food at both campuses, catered by Panda Express.

The two campuses will swap menus from Tuesday with elementary getting the All-American and secondary having Mexican food on Thursday.

Both campuses will enjoy Italian cuisine catered by Olive Garden on Friday.

National Teacher Appreciation Week was actually May 8-12, but the PTO opted to wait until this week not to conflict with STAAR testing at both campuses.

The PTO has also broadened the name to be Staff Appreciation Week to include all employees of Albany ISD for their contributions.

PTO president Ragan Riley and other members delivered gift bags to all employees at both campuses on Monday.

Individuals or business that wish to donate to the PTO for this week’s celebration can contact Riley at 214-663-3271 or contact any PTO officer.

Several local sponsors helped provide the meals, but Riley said that additional donations are needed.
