Albany News

Albany ISD is already preparing for its upcoming board election on May 4, while the Fort Griffin Special Utilities District directors were meeting on Wednesday, March 6 to consider options for their contested race.

AISD administrative assistant Lynsi Musselman said Monday that registered voters in the district can begin requesting mail ballots now.

Early voting will be held in the administratie office from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m Monday, April 22 to Friday, April 26 and again Monday-Tuesday, April 29-30.

Voting on the regular election day, May 4, will be held in the same location from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

On the ballot will be the two candidates for Place 3, incumbent Bo Brown and challenger Reggy Spencer.

Kalico Leech is unopposed for the Place 4 seat.

Musseman said that the district is borrowing the City of Albany’s two voting machines, since the city was able to cancel its election.

Fort Griffin SUD

IncumbentsSamSnyder and Burrell McKelvain, aongwithMichaelBartock, are candidates for two atlarge positions on the Fort Griffin SUD board.

Office manager Carrie Holson said this week that the FGSUD has to have multiple voting sites, and because the city only has two machines, borrowing those and sharing the election costs with Albany ISD is not an option.

Cancelled Elections The other four local entities have either already cancelled or plan to cancel their elections, because their are no opposed races.

Those include City of Albany, City of Moran, Moran ISD, and Shackelford County Hospital District.
