AISD honors 2024-2025 Teachers of the Year
Teachers of the Year for the 2024-2025 school year were recognized during the annual Staff Breakfast last Wednesday, Aug. 6, held at The Feed Store, marking the start of the new school year. The awards, selected by peers, highlight the dedication and impact of outstanding educators in the Albany Independent School District.
Nancy Smith Elementary School honored Roxanne LeMay, a 10-year Albany teaching veteran currently instructing kindergarten. LeMay has also taught second grade during her time with the district.
“Roxanne is part of the heart of our kindergarten team,” said Nancy Smith Elementary principal Jenci Chambers. “Her passion for nurturing young learners and commitment to their success is truly inspiring. She sets an example for all educators in our school.”
At Albany Junior Senior High School, Jennifer Everitt was named Teacher of the Year. Everitt brings 15 years of teaching experience in Albany and currently teaches high school English.
Everitt started her Albany teaching career with 4th grade Social Studies and writing, then moved to the high school to teach English and theater. She now focuses solely on English.
Secondary principal Ezra Chambers praised Everitt’s skill in the classroom.
“Mrs. Everitt is an amazing teacher with a gift for teaching writing. She creates great relationships with kids and cares for them deeply,” he said.
