With barely a quorum present for the July 19 meeting, Shackelford County Hospital District board members opted to table most agenda items until more directors can be present for those decisions.

They approved payment of bills and heard several departmental reports, but the only action item was to pass a resolution to move $50,000 to the Sanders Pharmacy account in anticipation of a routine, but large purchase of pharmaceuticals in the near future.

Pharmacist Eric Neal commented that although Sanders Drug Store is showing a “positive trend” in prescription numbers, the rising cost of goods is affecting revenue figures.

Clinic Report

Nurse practitioner Claire Ware reported that the clinic had been unusually busy for summertime, but there had only been a few new COVID cases in the past few weeks, all related.

She added that she and fellow NP Travis Wilburn had decided to order 48 more of the COVID rapid tests for the leased testing equipment, and they are discussing whether to extend the lease past October, depending on CLIA regulations.

Ware also presented a holiday calendar that she and Brandi Green had developed, but approval was tabled until more board members are present.

More Business

•Also tabled was any discussion or action on the various budgets for the hospital district.

•Review of the “Handbook for All Entities” was passed until the next meeting.

•EMS supervisor Tina Ulbrich reported that the enroute to scene had almost doubled since last month, with the ambulance crew making more trips than usual to Moran and Hamby.
